Experiencing Life

I need to take a side trip from my regular blog to highlight an adventure that I just returned from. My son and I were part of an educational field trip to Ecuador which included seeing Quito and the Galapagos. This trip is consistent with my philosophy that life is about experiences (and helping others along the way).

This trip certainly added to my list of experiences…

  • Snorkeling with sharks and sea turtles
  • Hiking to amazing waterfalls
  • Seeing animals that are ONLY native to the Galapagos – birds, iguanas and the giant tortoises
  • Seeing the city of Quito which is built between two mountain ranges with houses literally on top of each other
  • Hearing the local music
  • Shopping in the art town of Otavalo
  • Seeing how local chocolate is made (and eating some)
  • Seeing how the local artists make the beautiful tapestries
  • Trying the local food – yes I ate the cui (Guinea Pig)
  • And, most important, seeing it all with my son

So, yes project milestones and dates are important, but I have posted many times about finding balance in our lives to make room for other things…and, in this case, that means adding to our life experiences.
