Well Thanksgiving is here and so let’s use this as a time to give thanks to our team members. As Project Managers our success and failure relies on those people working on the team. I have said in many blog postings before that I believe we work for the team members and not the other way around.
Showing appreciation for team members is important to keep them motivated and show that we are genuine towards them. This is especially important in matrixed environments where resources report to multiple Project Managers. It is human nature to want to do better for people who are supportive vs those that are constantly yelling or abusive.
So give thanks to your team members and I am sure it will be appreciated and most likely their morale and performance will increase. If not, then you can roast their turkeys!
