I am a strong believer in being a genuine leader. These are people who care about the work, care about the company and care about the people. I have had the most success in my career working for leaders who are genuine in their approach and style and therefore try to do it as much as possibly myself. I believe that people can tell very quickly if someone is genuine or not and it affects how they view that other person.
There are several benefits to being genuine
- Being genuine takes away blame and yelling at people, so they are more apt to provide insight into issues. This means leaders hear about things earlier and have time to take action against them
- Genuine leaders attract and retain talented people more because top caliber resources look for these types of managers. This, in turn, provides much better productivity and results
- Team members respect them and dont think there are other motives so they are more ready to folow and commit to work
So, be genuine with your approach and leadership style and the result will be a stronger team with better results.
